Football club MSV & AV Flakkee has a rich history dating back to 1914, when the club was founded under the name Voorwaarts in Middelharnis. After a temporary disappearance during the mobilisation period (1914–1918), a new club named D.O.S. was founded in Sommelsdijk in 1919. Internal division led to a split in 1920, resulting in the official founding of M.V.V. on 20 April 1920. Due to financial difficulties and changes in the playing grounds, the club was renamed M.S.V.V. Flakkee in 1926.

Over the years, MSV & AV Flakkee has experienced many challenges as well as highs and lows. After World War II and the liberation in 1945, football enthusiasm returned, but the club was faced with the devastating North Sea flood of 1953. Despite this tragedy, Flakkee managed to recover and began building a new complex in the Van Pallandpolder. This complex was officially opened in 1970, coinciding with the club’s 50th anniversary.
