Racing Club Leiderdorp (RCL) was founded on August 24, 1926, and proudly stands as a historic football club with a rich legacy. Despite being over 90 years old, RCL remains dynamic and vibrant, making it one of the leading clubs in the Rhine and Bulb region, where Saturday football thrives. Over the past decade, RCL has maintained its position as one of the top amateur football clubs, with more than 1,200 members and modern, attractive facilities, making “Leiderdorpse Racing” a prominent name. Although the first team experienced some weaker seasons in the mid-1980s, temporarily losing competitiveness against strong regional clubs such as Quick Boys, Katwijk, Rijnsburgse Boys, and FC Lisse, the club has worked hard in recent years to improve organization and facilities, aiming to return to the top. During its golden era, RCL frequently appeared in newspapers such as Trouw, Leidsch Dagblad, Leidse Courant, and on television, with famous goals like Wally van Haver’s in 1976, paving the way for top Saturday football leagues. RCL marked its achievements with prestigious NCRV Cup victories and participation in the KNVB Cup, where the club faced FC Den Haag. Although the golden years of players like Bas Ederveen, Leo Holl, Dick van der Bijl, Bram Brandt, Ab Braat, Koos Haneveld, and Ben Heemskerk have passed, RCL continues to grow, expanding in both size and quality, while aiming to return to the Saturday First Division, where the club rightfully belongs. With its experience, facilities, and rich history, RCL remains an ideal destination for young players and all who are passionate about high-quality amateur football.
