VV Steenwijk is an amateur football club located in Steenwijk, a city in the municipality of Steenwijkerland, Overijssel, the Netherlands. The club was founded on April 12, 1912, under the name “Klein Maar Dapper” (KMD). In 1917, the name changed to “Rood Wit,” and finally, in 1921, it was renamed VV Steenwijk.
The home base of VV Steenwijk is “Sportpark de Nieuwe Gagels,” which features three natural grass pitches and one training field. Remarkably, the club is the only one in Steenwijkerland with a grandstand. The sports park regularly hosts youth teams from the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). In 2008, even the Danish national women’s under-19 and under-16 teams were guests at this venue.
