On June 23, 1960, sports club Smitshoek was founded in the Wijkgebouw on Bakkersdijk. The club started modestly but grew rapidly, especially the youth division, which experienced explosive growth. What began with just 51 members expanded to hundreds of young players enjoying football every week.

With a strong focus on youth development, Smitshoek has proven to be a club where young talents can flourish. The club’s D1 youth teams even competed at the national level, earning promotion to the national division in the 2007–2008 season. The overall quality remains high, while recreational youth teams offer enjoyment and sporting development.

After several facility expansions, including additional changing rooms and commercial spaces, the club continues to grow. The opening of a Beltona club shop in 2009 marked an important milestone in the club’s history.
